Adaptiveness

Adaptiveness

In the Fachmodul »Adaptiveness« we will deal with the basics of programming for artists and designers. The focus is on the term »Adaptiveness«. This means for example variable code, modifiability and (machine) learning ability. Our interest will be not only the code in itself, but also the interaction with/of code.

During the Fachmodul we will get inspiration from theoretical positions (Gilbert Simondon’s »Technical Activity«, Karen Barad’s »Agential Realism«, Friedrich von Borries’ »Weltentwerfen«, Daoism and Zen Buddhism). This will help to develop a mindset for programming and interactions/intra-actions with machines. The thematic focus is on agency, authorship, open source and of course adaption.

We will work with p5js/JavaScript. The aim is not necessarily a finished and functioning project, but some grasp on the topic, which could be realized as a prototype, accompanied by a documentation with references to the theoretical inputs.

This reader will be updated regularly during the upcoming weeks.
